Tankless Hot Water Heaters

Using a tankless hot water heater is a must for an energy efficient home. The long term energy savings will easily make up for the difference in cost between a tank and tankless unit.

Do not believe what many plumbers say: that a tankless heater will fail in a few years or that they will not produce enough hot water. To be frank: they don’t know what they are talking about. For some reason many US plumbers have not and will not embrace the “new” water heating technology. I put the word new in quotes because it is really not new; Europeans have been using tankless hot water heaters for years. So have the Japanese. They both are way ahead of us in energy conservation techniques. Its because of this that most of the tankless hot water heaters are imported from either Japan or Germany.

We have models that need no electricity - ideal for an alternative energy home. If a chimney or “B” vent flue is not possible, use the Rinnai direct vent model or the power vent model from Bosch.

But which ever model you choose, make sure to use a tankless hot water heater in your home, whether you live on or off the power lines.

RINNAI Tankless Water Heater

We are now offering the Rinnai tankless water heater which is made in Japan. The picture below shows the Rinnai R53i installed on a cellar wall with a direct vent to the outside through a box sill. Shown with Webstone Plumbing Installation kit and Standard Horizontal vent kit.

901-010 Rinnai Model R75LS IP $1039
901-011 Standard Horiz. Vent Kit  $109
901-012 Webstone Plumbing Install Kit $99
901-013 Remote temp Control $79

The Rinnai Model R53i PLUS is a whole house hot water heating solution. It does require electric power for the vent fan, ignition (no pilot) and its built in freezing protection, if necessary. It will provide an endless supply of hot water.

It can be mounted in any room in the house, no need to install in a cellar or utility room. It require a direct vent, for exhaust and air intake, either directly through the wall or up through the roof. Rinnai plastic or metal vent components must be used. Call for additional venting components. Maximum vent length is 35’ with one elbow.

We have used a Rinnai R53IP for more than six months now and are extremely happy with it. Maybe the best way to phrase it is that we always have hot water and otherwise we aren’t aware the heater is there.

15 YEAR PROTECTION!

Bosch's heat exchanger is so well built, it's backed by the longest protection plan you can find - 15 years. Bosch delivers years of trouble free performance. It can be the last water heater you ever buy.

The pilotless
Bosch Model 425 HNL

Bosch has developed a new, patented hydro-generator ignition system that requires no standing pilot, electricity or batteries. When water flows through the 425 HN's hydro generator it spins a tiny turbine which produces the spark required to light the burner. All other specifications are the same as the Model 425 PNL.

The Bosch ProTankless gas hot water heater is one of the most efficient ways to heat water available today. This rugged compact unit will pay for itself in about five years with the LP gas saved from not using a conventional hot water heater. The Bosch is wall hung (a fire-proof wall is not needed) - a cellar chimney is the most likely place to hang it. It requires open space to the front, 6" clearance on either side and 12" clearance to the ceiling. It is plumbed with 1/2" copper pipe for water inlet and outlet and requires at least a 5/8' diameter LP gas pipe. (Model 425)

The Bosch also requires a 5" vent pipe easily adaptable to 6". This vent should be thought of as the same type of vent necessary for a wood stove - not simply a 5" diameter pipe leading horizontally to the outside. The Model 425 HN requires a 5" diameter "B" type vent at least 11' high. The Model 425 EF comes complete with its vent hood to the outside, but needs 4" single wall stainless or galvanized pipe from the unit to vent hood.

We have sold many tankless water LP gas water heaters locally and our neighbors love them. Their economic operation and endless supply of hot water make the Bosch a favorite with everyone!
