DC Distribution Equipment

BE SAFE

Any connections to or from a battery bank should have some sort of fusing. A battery bank, or even just one battery stores a large amount of energy. Releasing all this energy instantly as in a short circuit can be very dangerous! The high currents involved in a short circuit can instantly melt wire insulation and start fires. The heat involved in a short circuit can cause nasty burns. Be sure to fuse any and all connections to your bank.

Prewired DC Distribution Panels

The following prewired DC distribution panels consist of 15 amp DC circuit breakers, a main fuse and switch-disconnect, and a ten foot, 6 ga. wire with lugs to connect to your battery bank. The switch-fuse box and circuit breaker box are connected by conduit and are prewired. You or your electrician will connect two lugs to the battery bank and run your DC circuits into the circuit breaker box. The circuit breaker box accepts normal house wire (Romex) using standard Romex connectors. Your electrician or wiring inspector will be happy with this UL listed equipment. It is much easier to use and much higher quality than RV load centers.

Prewired DC Distribution Panel #1

751-004 Four Circuit Breakers $199
This prewired panel has four DC circuit breakers in a six breaker box, a main fuse and switch-disconnect box, and a 10 foot, 6 ga. cable with lugs on the end to connect to your battery bank. Boxes are prewired and ready to accept your 12 gage Romex DC circuits.

Prewired DC Distribution Panel #2

751-006 Six Circuit Breakers $229
This prewired panel has six DC circuit breakers in a six breaker box, a main fuse and switch-disconnect box, and a 10 foot, 6 ga. cable with lugs on the end to connect to your battery bank. Boxes are prewired and ready to accept your 12 gage Romex DC circuits.

Prewired DC Distribution Panel #3

751-008 Eight Circuit Breakers $289
This prewired panel has eight DC circuit breakers in an eight breaker box, a main fuse and switch-disconnect box, and a 10 foot, 6 ga. cable with lugs on the end to connect to your battery bank. Boxes are prewired and ready to accept your 12 gage Romex DC circuits.

DC Circuit Breaker Boxes

753-004 Four 15 amp Breakers and Box $89
This six breaker box will hold two more breakers.
753-006 Six 15 amp Breakers and Box $109
Six breakers in a six breaker box.
753-008 Eight 15 amp Breakers and Box $169
Eight breakers in an eight breaker box.

These circuit breakers are UL listed for DC use at under 50 volts for 2000 amps interrupt current. Their contacts are sufficiently heavy duty to take DC switching. These circuit breaker boxes should be preceded by a main fuse on the battery side.

Fused Disconnect Boxes

350-030 30A DC 2-pole Switch Fuse Box $49
350-060 60A DC 2-pole Switch Fuse Box $69

These are DC rated double-pole switch/fuse disconnect boxes. The prices do not include fuses. The 30A box can take up to a 30A fuse. The 60A box can take a 40, 50, or 60A fuse. See fuses listed below. A 30 or 60 amp box is usually used as a fuse and switch
disconnect between the batteries and the charge controller or as a main fuse and disconnect between the batteries and the DC circuit breakers.  We use these boxes for switch/fuse disconnects in our DC prewired panels.

Catastrophic Main Fuses

342-030 30A Class RK5 Time Delay Fuse $6
342-040 40A Class RK5 Time Delay Fuse $10
342-050 50A Class RK5 Time Delay Fuse $10
342-060 60A Class RK5 Time Delay Fuse $10

Time delay Class RK5 fuses have the high interrupt current (AIC) required by code for battery bank fusing. The 30A or 60A size can be used to fuse the wiring between the battery bank and DC distribution circuit breakers. A 30A fuse and fuse holder could also be used where only a single DC circuit is needed
