Whisper 500 with Controller

The Whisper 500 is the most powerful wind turbine in Southwest Windpower's lineup. The 3000 watt rated turbine will deliver in excess of 500 kWh per month in a 12 mph wind. This machine has a 15 ft. rotor diameter providing 175 sq. ft. of swept area the 500 has been redesigned, incorporating a stronger, larger yaw shaft, new blade stabilizer straps and a third spindle bearing for increased stability. The 500 is an excellent machine for remote homes with large energy demands.

The 500 features a handmade fiberglass and foam blade for smooth, high efficiency operation and low wind start-up. It also incorporates a unique Patented side furling "angle governor" for overspeed protection and quiet operation in high winds. Output of the turbine is three phase AC power.

Power is transmitted to the EZ wire control panel where it is converted to DC. The controller is capable of regulating as much as 200 amps. Excess power is diverted through a resistor bank that can be used for area heating.

Whisper Tower Kits

Southwest Windpower provides tower kits for mounting the Whisper series wind turbines. The kits supply all the hardware necessary to install a guyed tower except for the poles and anchors. Anchor kits are listed below as well. Poles of the correct diameter for each kit must be obtained locally.
