AIR
X
Announcing innovative new technology that makes wind power
as
simple and versatile to use as PV's.
3 YEAR WARRANTY
1. Simple rooftop installation possible
2. Variable pitch aerolastic carbon matrix blades
balanced for low noise and vibration
3. Aircraft quality aluminum alloy castings
4. Sophisticated internal battery charge
regulator
5. Voltage and rotor RPM internally controlled
6. Maintenance free - only two moving parts
Southwest Windpower has just
introduced the latest evolution in small wind turbines, the NEW AIR
X. The AIR X combines what has made AIR the world's number one selling
small wind turbine with new technology which greatly lowers noise and improves
battery charging.
It's new controller
circuit monitors wind speed and slows the blades as it reaches its rated output
preventing it from going into flutter (the source of the noise).
The AIR X's new charge controller periodically stops charging, reads the battery voltage,
and compares it to the voltage setting, shutting off all current to the battery
if the batteries are fully charged. This allows the AIR X to charge any
size battery bank.
The AIR X limits input power by controlling the torque
from the blades. The power no longer has to be dissipated by the
electronics this results in lower stress on the circuit, bearings and other
materials. The electronic stall design reduces the speed to 600 rpm in
high winds, thereby reducing turbine and tower loading.
Southwest Windpower offers a line of tower kits (on the
next page)
that make it possible to completely install an AIR within a few hours. The
AIR X can be used in combination with photovoltaic modules and/or multiple AIR
modules can be installed to meet your power needs.

400 watts at 28 mph
Many people have been asking about wind power, with an eye toward adding to their energy supply during the winter. While we can obtain larger and more powerful wind machines, such as Bergy or larger Southwest Wind power units, this seemed to us a good place to start. If you want to see what the wind can do for you, try this low cost easily mounted Air 403.
Accessories
We offer these accessories to help properly install and monitor your
AIR X wind turbine. They are usually difficult to find because of their high DC
current ratings.
Stop Switch
232-001 50A Toggle
$9
Allows you to stop the turbine. This can be useful both for maintenance and testing
purposes.
Circuit Breaker
343-030 30A
$24
343-050 50A
$24
343-100 100A
$46
Amp Meter
361-030 0-30A
$25
An analog (needle type) ammeter works well for monitoring wind machines. You can
more easily see the current varying with the wind speed than you can with a digital
meter. Includes a 30A shunt.
